Project Connect is a one-day, one-stop service event to connect people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, homelessness with a broad range of services including housing, employment, physical and mental health care, veterans’ and social service benefits, legal services, and more.
Volunteer time-slots are available the evening on Wednesday, Oct. 18 and on Thursday Oct. 19 – community members are encouraged to sign up online to volunteer. The Partnership is also soliciting donations to help with the event – items in the giveaway bags and food items. Please find out more and sign up on the Partnership to End Homelessness website.

The community is cordially invited to OWASA’s Open House at the Cane Creek Reservoir on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (rain or shine). The Open House will feature:
• Fishing rodeo with prizes for children 12 and under (accompanied by adult guardian) from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
• OWASA information about watershed protection and water resources
• North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission information about fisheries management and wildlife
• United States Coast Guard Auxiliary information about water, boating and marine safety
• Audubon North Carolina bird walk
• Free coffee, donuts and Maple View ice cream while supplies last

Carve, paint or decorate your own pumpkin and then bring it to Carrboro Town Commons on Monday, October 31st between 9:30am- :00pm. Pumpkins will be displayed that night at the Annual Halloween Carnival. Citizens will have a chance to vote from 6pm - 8pm on which pumpkin they like best. The winner will be announced and presented a gift card at 8:15pm. All entries must be received by 3:00pm on Friday, October 27th at Carrboro Town Commons. Please Note: Nothing obscene, political or religious statements will be allowed.

The Appearance Commission:
Initiates, promotes, and assists in the implementation of programs for general community beautification within the town's planning jurisdiction
Seeks to coordinate the activities of individuals, agencies, organizations and groups, public and private, whose plans, activities and programs bear upon the appearance of the town and its environs
Directs the attention of the mayor and the board of aldermen to ways in which the town government may take direct action affecting the appearance of the town and its environs
Makes recommendations upon any permit or other item referred to the commission by the board of aldermen, planning board, board of adjustment, or administrator
Appoints subcommittees (consisting of commission members) or advisory groups (consisting of commission members, persons who are not non commission members or any combination thereof) to advise and assist the commission in carrying out its duties
Takes any other action authorized by this cha
The Planning Board:
Makes studies and recommends to the Board of Aldermen plans, goals and objectives relating to the growth, development and redevelopment of the Town and the surrounding extra-territorial planning area
Develops and recommends to the Board of Aldermen policies, ordinances, administrative procedures and other means for carrying out plans in a coordinated and efficient manner
Makes recommendations to the Board of Aldermen concerning proposed conditional use permits and proposed zoning map changes
Performs any other duties assigned by the Board of Aldermen

The TAB shall conduct studies and advise and make recommendations to the Board of Aldermen concerning all matters relating to the transportation within the Town of Carrboro and the surrounding area, including, but not limited to:
The need for the construction, operation, relocation, or improvement of streets, sidewalks, and bikeways
The establishment and improvement of alternative methods of mass transportation
The TAB shall report to the Board of Aldermen as requested by the board and shall undertake such studies or perform such duties as the board may request from time to time.
